Typewriter Mode

Typewriter Mode keeps the cursor always at the vertical center of the screen. As you continue typing, the body text scrolls upward while the line where the cursor resides stays firmly in the center — just like an old-fashioned typewriter, allowing you to lock your focus on the current line.

Shortcut: Ctrl+Alt+T to quickly toggle on/off; you can also enable it permanently in 07-Settings/02-Editor-Settings.

What Problem Does It Solve

  • Reduces visual fatigue: Your eyes don't have to jump back and forth between the top and middle of the screen
  • Maintains focus: The current line is always centered, with surrounding text naturally fading out of view
  • Avoids frequent manual scrolling: No need to take your hands off to scroll the page during long-form writing

How to Enable

  1. Press Ctrl+Alt+T to instantly toggle Typewriter Mode; or
  2. Open Settings (Ctrl+,) → "Editor" tab → Enable the "Typewriter Mode" toggle.

Once enabled, the typewriter indicator on the editor's bottom status bar will be highlighted; clicking it also quickly toggles the mode.

Tip

Typewriter Mode is compatible with both "Instant Rendering" and "Source View" editing modes and can be used together with them.
